The Administrative Office Technology (AOT) program at Greenville Technical College covers all aspects of the office profession and incorporates hands-on, in-depth training with software packages to prepare students for administrative support careers. Students study computers, office systems and procedures, while skills such as communication, organization and interpersonal relations are also emphasized.
A wide range of skills is needed for positions in the office and administrative support fields, with changes in technology and the global workplace increasing the responsibilities covered by this position. Those who gain knowledge and experience have the advantage of applying these assets in almost any industry. An administrative assistant also has the advantage of an inside view of a company or organization, sometimes tailoring skills to a desired position.

This certificate program prepares students for entry-level administrative office positions in business, industry and/or government agencies. Students will obtain the base level technology and business skills that will allow them to be effective members of an office team and have a working knowledge of how they can use business systems, including accounting, marketing and management to support the office.

Students will learn basic office skills in addition to the technological skills desired by many industries to support the analysis and presentation of company and industry data.

Medical Clerical
Certificate in Applied Science
Emphasizing specialized technical knowledge along with communication and interpersonal skills, this certificate can help you succeed as an entry-level medical clerical employee. Graduates are eligible to obtain the Physician Practice Specialist certificate by completing the requirements for that program.
The credits earned in this program may apply toward the AOT associate degree.
